敘利亞大馬士革市郊的東古塔（eastern Ghouta）地區,從2013年開始,就一直飽受敘利亞政府戰火侵襲,並且是離首都最近的反叛軍根據地,敘利亞政府軍在俄羅斯的戰機支援下,加劇了對東古塔地區持續性的炮火攻擊,在這場攻擊下,短短數天就已經有數百人死亡,並且摧毀了六間醫院和數間城市間的醫療中心
聯合國安理會,其中包含俄羅斯,投票通過2401號決議，要求敘利亞各方立即停止敵對行動、全境停火至少30天
此次演講希望透過東古塔轟炸事件,來探討近期敘利亞內戰的發展,並會討論現任敘利亞巴沙爾·阿薩德(Baššār al-ʾAsad)政府政權及敘利亞反叛軍的策略,以及未來可能的發展
Eastern Ghouta has been under siege by the Syrian government since 2013, and is the last rebel stronghold near the capital. On February 19, Syrian forces backed by Russian warplanes escalated the offensive on Eastern Ghouta with a relentless bombing that killed hundreds of people within days. The bombing has damaged or destroyed six hospitals and medical centers across the city. UN Security Council – including Russia – voted in favor of a resolution calling for a 30-day ceasefire “without delay”.
This discussion intends to discuss the recent developments in Syrian Civil War with particularly focus on the Ghouta bombings and its consequences. We will discuss the strategies from Assad regime and opposition forces, responses from international communities, and possible scenarios in future.
